Jack, Jack, Jack...Stay at the Lakers Game

Marc Whalberg is great. Ray Wintsone and Leonardo Di Caprio are great. But Jack Nicholson, President Bartlett and Alec Baldwin are terribly miscast. 'The Departed' keeps you on the edge of your seat just to see who is gonna whack who and how, but the ends don't tie together very well and it's really just a well-made B Movie with a box-office extravaganza cast.

After the film was over, The Plotniks, who had been huddled together under a blanket on their little sofa as the blood went flying around the room, spun the dial and found Godfather 1. Come ON! EVERY scene. EVERY character. EVERY plot angle. EVERY snippet of dialogue.

OK, unfair to compare any gangster film with G-1, but at least get an Italian to play the big Italian, not the demonic loony from The Shining crossed with Diane Keaton's sympathetic boyfriend. Phee-wwww. And Pres Bartlett? Playing the good cop like Dr. Phil? Now we see how badly you needed Josh and Toby.

Leonardo's great, though, truly demented, though Marc Whalberg may be the best of all.
