Quick Change Artists

Plotnik hates 7pm curtains. Everybody hates 7pm curtains. The guy giving out the press passes, the guy pouring the wine, the actors most likely hate it too. But that's the hour that shows start on Tuesdays for some idiotic reason nobody understands.

Usually Plotnik writes 7PM! DON'T FORGET! 7PM! on his calendar whenever he has a Tuesday show to attend, but this time he was in Stiletto City visiting his Mom, you know, and he had to reschedule the Saturday opening for Tuesday, you know, and he forgot, well, you know the rest.

So last night at 6:15 he had just turned on the gas grill, the chicken was marinating, the salad was made, the rice was almost done and the Laker game was on the DVR when Plotnik looked out at the view of downtown from his deck and thought to himself: "Ah, it's so nice to be back home, about to eat our own food, sleep in our own bed, and we've got almost two hours until we've got to get down to the...theater...wait. What night is this?"

Ducknik was lying in bed reading her Kindle as Plotnik rushed past to check his calendar on the computer: "ShitShitShit!"

"What's wrong?" she said? "ShitShitShit!" Plot answered.

The amazing thing is Plotnik realized at 6:15 that he had screwed up, but by 6:55 they were downtown, parked and walking into the theater. An enormous round of applause for The Great Ducknik's speed in getting ready and an apology to her from Plottie about that one rather foolhardy turn he made to make the light on Dolores Street. As she said, "that was my side that was about to get crushed," or something perhaps a tad saltier.

The show was pretty good. You can read the SF Theater Blog Review of "Slasher" here.

I LOVE the 7pm curtain ~ 6pm would be even better. Glad you liked this play, now I'll read your other blog.
Good job on the rush and the parking!
