The Burn They Never Forget

When you grow up on the West Coast but you've spent the last ten years on the East Coast, it all comes down to Mexican food. The Great BZWZ loved going through the Farmer's Market looking at all the unobtainable chiles.

At dinner at Regalito, they do know how to deal with corn. They cut an ear in half, then cover it with mayonnaise, toss farmer's cheese all over it and dust that with chile powder. Man, that's good.

Then you take thick tortillas and fill them with chicken, covering them with a salsa verde and a little Mexican crema.

Nobody makes churros like Regalito, and the cup of hot chocolate that goes with them makes it all go down that much easier. The flan is OK. But the churros are fantastic.

These trips come and go 'way too quickly. The good thing is Plot and Duck will be back in Providence in less than a month, preceded by a week or two in Brooklyn. It's that good time of year, when we all see each other a lot.

I'm not so sure about that corn, but I'd try it. The rest looks stunning. Enjoy the east on your trip!

East Coast folks always miss our Mexican food. Silent Bill and I will try your restaurant, I promise!
