Music is for Us
There's a little coffee house on Mission Street with a not-so-little music room in the back. The music is free and they have delicious coffee and draft beer and wireless, you know, everything the modern jazz fan needs. The other night Plot and Duck heard their friend Jim Zim play vibes with a trio. The music sounded SO good -- vibes are the best instrument in the world for a small room. Standards, a few originals, a few strangers too. As always, we love best the ones we know best.
But Aunt Margie died yesterday. We'll post about her tomorrow -- the lesson seems to be the familiar one. Two months ago she was laughing and joking and having dinner at the Little Bear's with Mummy P. and family. The next thing anyone knows she's got a fatal illness and a few weeks later, boom.
So let's go have a beer and listen to some more music. When they give it, live it. Margie, this one's for you.

Oh, I'm sorry. Your mom has to be heart broken. Where is this music room?
This looks like a great time. I'm on a jazz run this weekend--Litchfield Jazz Festival yesterday and hope to get to The Bad Plus at the Vanguard tonight. It's raining in Manhattan, but who cares?
Sorry about Aunt Margie. Hope that doesn't dampen the birthday plans too much.
Mush, Socha is across the street from the B of A.
