A Great Show at Zeum

Last night, Plot and Duck went to see the daughter of good friends star in the A.C.T. Master's Program production of Virginia Wolff's 'Orlando.' The show was great and the daughter was even better. CLICK HERE FOR SF THEATER BLOG REVIEW

Of course, there are always issues when you see young ladies on stage who you have known since they were ten years old, especially when...Criminy, she takes her clothes off. Plotnik had to cover his eyes and stare at his program in the dark. Yeah, yeah, don't be a prude, OK, but sheesh.

Zeum is a wonderful place to see a show. Plus, the city looks especially beautiful at night from Yerba Buena Gardens, because you are inside a time warp -- open space, few buildings, and of course the old 1906 carousel.

Look up and there's the Jukebox, and the Metreon and MOMA, but you're still an observer from far away. The only reason Plotnik can think of that so few people utilize this space at night must be the presence of homeless drunks. Isn't it lunacy that the city can allow crazy people to take a priceless area like this away from the people?

I also wonder about the homeless lunacy at large in SF. Sometimes I think it's intentional. You know, to put enough edge on the beauty to make sure the tourists don't decide to stay.

First, you are right that it can be surprisingly odd to see kids that you've known forever grow up and do adult things that you would have no trouble with other people's kids growing up and doing.

Second, "Arrowsmith"??? That should get you many flames from the Hair Band crowd (although there might not be as many of them that read theater reviews as there should be). For the record, it's "Aerosmith."

That wasn't me that made that mistake, it was somebody else. But it was I who corrected it and I thank you Mr. That.
