N.E.R.T. Day One

...starts in an hour. Duck and Plot will be learning important stuff today and next Saturday. Hope it's not like Driving School.

-------

Now it's 5:30. NERT Training was fun and informative. The two videos, one on a pandemic ("there is absolutely nothing to worry about unless you die"), were obviously tacked on to the NERT Program by some government organization and they were dumbed down to a 6th grade level or less. But the actual skills were important to learn -- triage, earthquake preparation, etc. What do you do if you walk into a room and everyone is lying motionless on the ground?

Next week we learn some medical skills and then take a CPR class and a First Aid for First Responders class. Hopefully this is info that will never come in handy.

Wow - was this training inspired by your horrifying experience getting to the Giants game on Tuesday?

That actually happened to me once . . . and it meant I'd slept through one hell of a party. I just stepped over the bodies and went on my way to work. What I should have done was to take pictures, then gone to work. No one wants to be around for those mass morning-after regrets—but pix would have been fun to have later.

I've heard of CERT, but not NERT? Norcal Emerg. Response Team?
