Crazy Halloween Sunday

Sunday morning Plot and Duck finally got Mummy P. into Tropical for a cup of cafe con leche, empanada and guayaba con queso. Nothing has changed in this place except for everything. Old Cuban expats going off about Castro: gone. New local hipsters googling about low fat cream: here. But the empanadas are still as good as ever. And Plot is used to his mom's newly gray hair.

Plot and Duck had decided to drive to Oakland Airport this time, instead of taking the train and shuttle like they usually do, because they wanted to be able to hurry home when the plane landed. Guess what: their car battery was dead.

But they got it charged at the parking garage, ran in the house and started getting stuff ready for Halloween. Zinfandini and family were scheduled to arrive any minute, and Trick-or-Treaters were already circulating on the block. Plot went out to the Arugula Patch and immediately must have stepped in at least three cat's worth of poop, not enough to notice before he tracked it through the entire house on the way to the kitchen, but enough so that as he stood picking the arugula leaves off the stems he kept sniffing the arugula, wondering why they didn't smell as good as usual?

Mopping, rug cleaning, quick quick quick, windows wide open, Plotnik swearing and vowing to kill every cat in America.

Trick or Treaters arrived. Damn, they're cute! Everybody in the neighborhood was costumed and holding a wine glass in one hand and a Snickers in the other.

Neighbors Keith and Cheryl are on the left.

New neighbors Carlo and Athena.

Plot and Duck went as The Old Couple on The Block this year.

Buster Posey came over.

And Brian Wilson.

The last two years, Plot and Duck have been in Brooklyn for Halloween. It was nice to be home. And the pennette with meatballs was good enough to shake the ghouls out of the trees.

Giants 3, Rangers 1.

Wow - how did you get a picture of the silver rope Brian uses to get back to his space pod after games?

Not all cats are evil. Just 80% of them.

You did just barely get home in time, but it's all good. Love the photos!
