Funk it 'til it Hurts
We're through Episode Four of Treme - Season Two. So far we can't figure out why everyone doesn't love Season Two as much as Season One. True, the stories are in less depth -- each segment seems to last less time and they try to cover too many plot lines in each episode. But, come on! The music! How can you not love Antoine Batiste?
Supposedly it goes downhill from here. We'll see.
The Great Plotnik must take official umbrance with Jeanette sloshing a Sazerac in the reviewer's face. We love reviewers. (He wishes she had stabbed her first Chef Boss instead.)
Did you all know it's Tony Bourdain who gave the writers all the stuff about working in NYC kitchens?
And if you have a discerning ear, listen to Episode Four, when Antoine is auditioning guitar players for his new band. Annie the violinist's ex-boyfriend comes in to audition, and he sounds pretty good. You're surprised when Antoine and the rest of the band say - "ehhhhh." But then they get a fantastic guitar player in, and the difference is night and day. This show knows how to talk the truth about music. There really hasn't been anything else like it.
