Coast to Coast and Almost Home

Up at 4:30, Arecibo car service to JFK, Delta 424 to LAX, Flyaway bus to Van Nuys, Mom and Lillian waiting in the car when we walked outside. Back to Studio City by noon. Home tomorrow.

It's always hard to leave, but I'm getting smarter as I get older.

Rule: Where your kids are, go there.

Corollary: Where your good friends are, go there too. Where doesn't matter but Who With does.

New Year's Resolution: stop whining.

Christmas 2014 Brooklyn

Xmas Eve

Had to cancel Xmas Eve dinner tonight. The stomach flu bug grabbed Papa last night, but I think I'll be fine for tomorrow morning's presents opening.

Dan and Staci and Isabella made batches of Christmas cookies and took them around to their neighbors.

Dan and I went to see the Nets play the Nuggets last night in Brooklyn. Halfway through the game, I knew I was in trouble.

But that's yesterday's news. People pay a lot of money to get a cleanse like I just had. And I got it for free. Hallelujah have a lovely Christmas everybody.

Tiapos Is Gathering

Perfect timing -- we picked the very last apples off the apple tree this morning and they're already inside an apple pie Ducknik is making for tonight's TIAPOS Christmas Party. She's also made a pecan pie AND bourbon balls; Plottie's contributions this year are lamb meatballs and mango/pomegranate salad. We expect fifteen and hope everyone can make it.

Plotnik ended up writing a rant which is in seriously bad taste. This, of course, is the definition of a proper rant. He also wrote a pitch for his Crucinorah by Meonorafix Action Figures, but this makes his rant seem like Mary Poppins, tastewise. So he'll keep the Crucinorah to himself (until the pieces arrive from China).

He also found Christmas presents this morning, hallelujah! Plotnik is good at big things and small things. It's the middle things he has trouble with.

The lady at Good Scents said shopping is easy for her and her husband because they've known each other so long. Fifteen years! Plotnik bit back the obvious reply. It's easy when you're young and need everything.

When was the last time you listened to "Skeletons" by Rickie Lee Jones? Early seventies music, fast forward to today and that song is every bit as devastating now as it was then.

That's it For Me

Baseball is nothing to blog about. No one cares. It's silly. What's the point? It doesn't matter. Why would it? It's just a game. Players make too much money. They take drugs. It is silly to get excited about it. Wouldn't make sense. It's a waste of time. Why bother? There is no value to the game. Respect is nonexistent. Players spit. They chew tobacco. Grown men playing a boy's game. Silly. Hmmmph.

Rant Idea

Have to get my Rant ready for the Tiapos Christmas Party in ten days. The bar was raised excedingly high last year, though the 2013 topic was "Christmas Rant." This year it's "Generalized Rant About Anything that Pisses You Off."

I've been ranting for several days about Stevie Wonder, but I secretly loved that show so this won't do. Christmas is too easy a target, same with politics, cell phone and cable companies, pop culture,  bland, crappy food, and...wait. PEDESTRIANS! I HATE PEDESTRIANS!

EsPECially the ones who talk on their cell phones while crossing a street in the middle of the block at night wearing black clothing. Hmmm, I am on to something here.

Spaceships

The Mother Ship touched down last night.  Earlier that morning, the scout craft had appeared.

Now, both alien pods have taken up residence in the mint. They are sending out signals for anyone dumb enough to try slicing them up and putting them in the spaghetti.

Guess Who Got Her Birthday Lunch?
