Beauty Contests? Brains?

One of the best things about "The Scene," which is a really funny and entertaining new play at SF Playhouse, is that we have discovered a new playwright: Theresa Rebeck. The play and the cast are wonderful. Plotnik kept slapping his leg, saying: "Man! WHAT a script!" ...that is, when he wasn't doubled over in hysterics, or when he wasn't applauding with the rest of the audience at every scene change. READ SF THEATER BLOG REVIEW HERE

Another interesting factoid is that the lead actress, Heather Gordon, is Miss Marin 2007 and is going to compete for Miss California 2008. But hold on: she's sharp as a tack! She can act, and she is very, very funny. But...we thought...bimbos, beauty contests...wait, brains? What's going on here?

Super Bowl Sunday, the best day of the year to travel in America, where nobody goes anywhere. The Great Plotnik couldn't care less about the game, in fact he finds the game and the hype about as interesting as a flat tire on the interstate, but he is looking forward to Ducknik's nachos and J-Whacky's chili.

Bimbos? Brains? Sheesh.

So you ARE watching the game? Nachos and chili can make most anything watchable.

I've been watching golf in place of the four hour pregame (Ryan Seacrest? What is HE doing in a football pregame? And why is there a red carpet? The Super Bowl has become so useless. Unless one of my teams makes it...)
