A Bar in NotThatClinton Hill

The neighborhood The Great PD and The Great 5H are thinking of moving into is a twenty minute walk from Smart Slope, where they currently live, where the dogwood trees are only now bursting into bloom.

They've put down a deposit on a large apartment on a historical block of NotThatClinton Hill, named for not that Clinton, nor the other Clinton, but the first Clinton, e.g. DeWitt Clinton, inventor of the steamboat.

The apartment is currently nothing but detritus from three Eastern European workers slapping on wallboard compound and turning wrenches and installing a bathtub and taking what was a large two bedroom one bath apartment with a gracious dining room leading through pocket doors into the living room and turning the two-one into a three-two -- this way they can rent it for more money. But the apartment will still be beautiful and large and the Eastern Europeans are supposed to be finished renovating by July 15. They may be.

There are no pictures of the apartment itself today, but here is the grand lobby.

And here is a house a block away, which was apparently used as a lookout during the War, but not That war, the Revolutionary War.

After seeing the apartment, 5H, Ducknik and Plotnik stopped for lunch in a nearby bar. An old guy was sitting at the bar, telling a woman across the bar everything there was to know about NotThatClinton Hill. It was fascinating -- you just have to go to bars during the day to find out any neighborhood's secrets.

And I thought I was the only notthat. That's great that they are able to upgrade to a bigger place! Love the lobby.

Isn't there a basketball game tonight?
