The Undercover Black Man Has Moved On
David Mills, a really good writer and blogger, died suddenly the other day. You all probably heard Plotnik tout his "Undercover Black Man" blog many times, especially when it came to new music. He loved fusion of forms and was in New Orleans where he was now advising on a new TV show, 'Treme,' being shot there. His last blog entry was March 29. What happened, we don't know.
And Plotnik never knew what he looked like until he saw this picture today.
You can read about David here, on a link that just got posted up to his last blog.
It made Plotnik think about blogs and what happens to them after the blogger moves on, either permanently or just starts doing something else. Blogs are a record of where you were at a specific time, on a particular date in a certain year, but they're not of much interest to anybody after that because everything you've been talking about is now dated.
Plotnik had been wondering what happened to Bandini, who ate in every taco truck in LA, wrote about them and published great photos. Most of the trucks are now in other places, for sure, or changed hands, and the info is 'way outdated, but that was the tastiest blog of 'em all. And guess what: Plotnik just checked the Great Taco Hunt site and Bandini just posted another taco truck review three days ago -- his first in over three years. Maybe David Mills had something to do with this.

This got me to thinking - nobody knows my password to my blogs or Facebook or any of that stuff. Maybe this is a business opportunity - a company that comes in and cleans up after you once you go to the big blogging convention in the sky.
I have wondered this too. Sorry about this undercover black man...
