El Dia de la Mama
Happy Mother's Day from Great Plotnik World headquarters to everyone out there who either is a mother or who has ever had one. Plottie is lucky to still have his and he just phoned her to tell her so.
Last night he and Duck went with The Great Fate-Nik and Ms. Fate to Farina in the Mission for dinner. It's one of these new-money joints that takes presumptuousness to a new level, though it must be said that the pasta pillows were delicious. It's Plotnik's fault -- he still thinks that if you are going to charge ridiculous prices for food, at least the portions should be big enough that your stomach knows it just ate something. $18 for focaccia? $36 for a few tablespoons of veal?
But the company was great and that's always the best part.
After dinner Plot and Duck left their friends and went to the premiere of Charlie Varon and Jeri Lynn Cohen's new show "Life Goes Viral." If they ever get a second act this will be a fabulous show because the First Act has everything. Both actors are terrific.
And then he finally got home -- and reeled up the DVR'd Laker Game 7. He'd been waiting all night for this, with his phone off and refusing to look in any bar windows where there might be a TV on with the score.
The game was tight -- got to the last four minutes -- and the DVR ran out. He hadn't put enough time on the recording. He had to go turn on the computer to find out that his boys had actually prevailed. So there are at least four more games in the season.

Now that Whirled Piece of Artest is back, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Lakers. Going seven games against the Nuggets was not a great start though.
I really despise those kinds of restaurants - I hate leaving, feeling like I need to stop somewhere to get something to eat.
OK, I'll reserve Varon but not Farina!
Thanks...
