YES on E

I Absentee Voted this morning, since we're planning to run away from home in a few days. There is only one thing on the entire ballot I feel strongly about: YES on E.

This the the ballot initiative Air BnB is spending so much money to defeat -- basically it says if your neighbor turns his house into a hotel with people coming and going all day and all night, to your extreme dismay seeing as you live in a residential not a commercial neighborhood, you can sue them to stop. You can blame Air BnB and you can blame the owner of the house and hold them responsible.

Believe me -- we have lived through this once, and it can be a disaster. I urge you to vote YES on E and at least give the rest of us a chance. You can still rent out rooms in your house if you want to, but if you abuse the privilege your neighbors have some leverage to make you comply with the law.

That's it.

But but but - the (AirBnB funded) ad says that, if this passes, I'll have to file a report every night specifying which bed I slept in. And my neighbors can come in anytime to verify that. MY WORLD WILL END! (I'm really a bit surprised at how big of jackasses AirBnB is being about all this - they based their business primarily on people breaking lease rules and are now surprised that not everyone thinks that's OK. Jerks.)

Hi Susan - NY, then London, then RyanAir to Bari and drive into Puglia and afterwards to Calabria to 'help' in the olive harvest at property our friends' family owns. We may have time to train back through Napoli and see Pompei and Herculaneum, who knows? How are you? Where are you off to next?

DAK: MEXICO in December for 4-5 months. Our house survived Patricia with no damage to speak of. The beach and puestos were not so lucky. Have a splendid trip. And happy BIG birthday, too.

Susan, I thought you had sold your house. No? I'm quite pleased if you didn't, you know, just because...and how wonderful that Patricia spared you.

Feelings about AirBnB aside, I'm pretty sure this is Proposition F, not E!

Oh Plottie—what a difference a single letter can make. Bronwyn's right. You're referring to F, not E.
