Rambutans!
So good. Plotnik had never tasted fresh rambutans before, only out of cans. But there they were this weekend at the Allemany Farmer's Market. Mmmmm! Sweet! Kind of like a cross between a ripe strawberry and a honeydew melon. There's a pit inside that looks just like an almond.

It always amazes me that someone was bold enough to be the first to look at something as scary as these and think, "I wonder what they taste like?"
