The Perfect Match
When the Plotniks and Zinfandinis were in Amador City last weekend, in front of the Made In China ONLY gift store, a woman strolled by walking this dog. His name is Captain, he's a Newfoundland Something and he weighs 160 pounds.
Plot couldn't help but think: What do you do with all that fur? How about his food? What happens when Captain gets old? How do you lift him up the stairs? How do you put him in the back of the car, or, worse, lift him out? His owner looked like she weighed around 95 pounds.
But as you can see by the smile on Schmeckl Plotnik's face, dogs make him happy. When Plottie's brother is around a dog, any dog, sick or healthy, big or small, dumb or dumber, he shines. Plotnik hopes this man will someday volunteer to work with dogs because it will give him huge amounts of pleasure and the dogs will love it too. He'll never accuse any of them of being socialists or, gasp, environmentalists. Win Win.
In the next life, Plot wants his brother to be a veterinarian. Of course, Plottie wants himself to be Kobe Bryant, so we'll just see how it all turns out.

Wow! I thought that was a bear! We'll let you know how the old big dog thing goes. Ours is around 100 pounds and will be hard enough to work with - 160 pounds is astonishing!
Your brother is a man after my own heart. How you described him is how I feel about them also. Except sick ones make me sad.
I definitely thought it was a bear, too! I volunteered at a no-kill animal shelter about a month ago, and the proprietor is an 85 year old woman and her husband. There's hope for Uncle Ric, yet! :)
