Pizza and Sam Gets his Sham

The answer to the question "who has the best pizza in Saint Plotniko" is "nobody, if you eat the pizza an hour after they deliver it," and "everybody, if you eat it in the pizza parlor the minute it comes out of the oven.

Plottie bought two Chicago style pizzas, one with chorizo and one with mushrooms and crushed garlic, from Patxis, that just opened up on 24th Street in the Latino Restaurant Death Wish location (at least five Mexican places have failed there since the Plotniks have lived in the neighborhood). Patxi's deep dish is, well, don't EVEN try to put it in the same classification with Uno or Due or other deep dish pizzas from anywhere within a hundred miles of Chicago, the real Chicago. These were good, not excellent.

One pizza margherita from Marcello's in the Castro which was pretty darned good, but again...good for Saint Plotniko. A margherita has to be eaten hot and this wasn't, so it might not be Marcello's fault.

One pizza with pepperoni and another with feta and artichoke hearts from Twin Peaks on Church Street. Indistinguishable from Marcello's or other pretty good west coast pizza.

That's just the way it is. Don't know why. Not enough --- what? The deep dish pizza with chorizo LOOKED like Chicago stuffed pizza, there just wasn't much taste. No heartburn. No covering your face with the menu to burp. I mean, what's a Chicago style deep dish stuffed pizza without a disturbance of the natural order?

And the others? Good crust. Good filling. Good. If you ate this stuff hot from the oven you'd think it's very good, maybe even as good as, well, somebody's cousin's first try at making pizza in a second rate Eastern city like Patterson, New Jersey. That can be very good, it depends on the cousin. Here we just don't get it.

Sam finally got his Sham.
