Pastel de Choclo
As always, it's nice to be home. It was fun to have one on one time with Mummy P. for a few days, run some errands, install some hardware, check out a few desk issues and hear a bunch of stories. How can it be that after all these years Plot can still learn new things about his family that he never knew before? But it happens every trip now.
And this pastel de choclo, courtesy la Pata de Patagonia, was waiting for Plottie when he dragged his tired bones in from the plane-bus-train-walk up the hill.
It takes four hours, door-to-door, to get from Mummy P.'s house to The Great Plotnik World Headquarters, counting the drive to the airport and the wait for the plane, the flight, the tram to BART, the ride on BART and the walk from Glen Shmark.
And it was expensive due to the last second ticket.
If Plot had driven it would have taken six hours (each way), added a thousand miles to the car and cost around $80 in gas plus $248.50 at the In N Out Burger (each way).
Usually he says it's worth it to fly because he's not as exhausted when he comes home, but last night he was completely whipped. It might be the excessive smoke at Mummy P.'s house these days, or it might just be a case of Airplane Air.
Incidentally, the new TV at Mummy P.'s house, which is still there but may not be for long, ended up costing around $750 at Costco, including tax and all the state of CA fees. For that she got a 40" Sony Brevia LCD with lots of options she'll never use.
Only a few years ago Plot and Duck paid almost twice that for their 32" Samsung Time Wasting Machine LCD with no options (but a four or five year warranty). You could probably pick up Plot and Duck's excellent TV used now for a few hundred bucks. If Plot were buying another for himself that's just what he would do.

That really looks good. And I would always opt for driving down there, but I really hate the hassle of flying. (And can resist the magic that is In-N-Out Burger. For a bit.)
Glad you're home...
